Niche markets and micro niche market
Choosing a niche market is paramount to your success online, what this really means is choosing a market with little or no competition, there is no point being no 75,000 in Google rankings, however if you choose the right niche market and the right domain name then you can get up there with the first top 10 in the search engines. As I talked about in an earlier post, 3 of the main popular areas for sales on line are,
1-Health and fitness, this can include, slimming, exercise, sports, travel etc.
2-Dating, this can include dating sites and xxx sites, not my cup of tea but it is a big industry none the less.
3-Advise on how to make money online, this can include product promotions, tutorials, site building platforms and the list goes on.
Within each area there is various sub categories and with in each sub category there are more categories, for example within the “Health and fitness” area there is sport and within the sport category there are plenty of different types of sports and then there are the places the sports take place! Another example, I’m also a dive instructor, so there is the sport and travel industry, the particular sport is scuba diving so there are the places you can go to do this sport, I periodically go and work in Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, which is a very popular dive destination but its still only one town, so my niche market could be, advertising any one of the hotels or any one of the dive centers over there. There is a lot of competition, but no more than lets say 200 websites, and this is quite low, if I was to advertise a certain activity within one of the hotels or dive centers, something I believe was going to be popular then I could narrow the competition down even more and with the right domain name I should be able to get a place at the top of Google whenever anyone makes an inquiry about that particular activity, hotel or diving center. In my case I Know the sport and the area very well, so I have an advantage when it comes to writing about it, but if you don’t know much about a certain product, Google is a great resource. The rest is just a matter of picking up the phone and trying to make a deal.
Nearly everything about computers and the Internet is about how to make money, so you have a choice of all the hardware or software out there, there is an awful lot of software companies that have affiliate offers so its just a case of searching around to find one that could be popular and then putting a website together to promote that particular product.
